MOST of the arguments concerning means testing have dwelt on cost issues. While not unimportant, perhaps the debate should catalyse a broader rethink on how we conceive the health-care system.
I REFER to the letter, 'Cabbies seek solution to tourist guide test woes' by Mr Ong Cheap Guan (ST, Jan 2).
AFTER reading the report, 'New benches for MRT stations' (ST, Dec 29), I would like to suggest that the authorities install benches at the Woodlands Checkpoint coach bay.

WITH the recent news on improving our health-care system, I would like to highlight an issue that is seldom raised, an issue regarding subsidies for prosthetic limbs in Singapore.
AS WE commemorated 40 years of interchangeable currency with Brunei last year, many would expect retailers from both sides to be aware that both currencies are on par and acceptable in the other country.
I WOULD like to highlight the danger facing motorists using the stretch of road along East Coast Parkway (ECP) service road from the Seafood Centre to the last carpark before the Fort Road exit.
I REFER to the letter by Mr Peter Wee Teik Hui (ST, Jan 1) in which he observed that there was 'leap-frogging' of bus service 980.
ON JAN2, I booked a taxi (SHA7755J) to take me from Casafina in Bedok to Changi Airport Terminal 2 at 7.15am.

ROAD accidents take place at traffic junctions occasionally.
I AM writing in to complain about an unpleasant encounter at Yishun Library on the evening of Jan 10.

ON DEC 31 at about 5.10pm, while my two daughters aged seven and five were travelling on bus service 165 back to our home in Commonwealth Avenue West, I noticed the TV screen was showing a clip from the film Pyscho, where a character is seen stabbing a woman in the shower. Fortunately, I quickly diverted my daughters' attention and they missed the segment.
ON JAN 8, a report on cats was telecast on Channel NewsAsia. The programme showcased only negative aspects of stray cats. This is unfair to stray cats and responsible feeders of stray cats. Since it was a news programme, arrangements should have been made to contact a decent stray cat feeder and discussion how the interview should be carried out.
I REFER to the letter, 'Problems with mio plan bundle since start of subscription, plus poor service from SingTel' by Madam Balbinder Kaur (ST Online Forum, Jan 9).
