I REFER to last Wednesday's Forum Online letter by Ms Lorna Yee, 'Bishan's herb garden is worth saving'.

We assure Ms Yee that we are supportive of the volunteers' gardening efforts at Bishan Park.

The spirit of the collaboration with gardening groups in public parks is to make their gardens enjoyable for all park visitors.

As part of Bishan Park's redevelopment, we are engaging our volunteers to achieve this objective.

For instance, the current arrangement where the herb garden is fenced up is not ideal. We will work towards opening it up so that the herb garden is better integrated with the surrounding park area. As a result, more park users will be able to enjoy it.

Meanwhile, as agreed with the volunteers, we will help to look after the herb garden plants.
