Safety doors at MRT stations: Why give priority to Pasir Ris?
I REFER to Monday's report, 'Safety doors operating at Pasir Ris MRT'.

Why was Pasir Ris picked as the first station in this project? Records show that past accidents occurred at Marsiling, Eunos, Admiralty, Clementi and Bishan stations, just to name a few. Surely these stations are considered higher priority than Pasir Ris.

And with these safety measures costing the Land Transport Authority (LTA) $126 million, it begs the question why this cost was never included during planning. It sounds like commuters may eventually end up bearing the cost of this oversight.

Both the LTA and SMRT need to be transparent about this.
