SP Services reducing use of paper
I REFER to Thursday's online letter by Mr Syu Ying Kwok, 'Go green, SP Services'. We share Mr Syu's concern in the conservation of the environment. To reduce the use of paper, we have been printing utility bills on both sides of the paper since March last year. We have also introduced electronic billing.
Customers may request not to receive our paper bills and we have done so for the few customers who have made such requests. Our billing processes are highly automated due to the large number of bills we print and in order to exclude certain bills from being printed, manual intervention is required. This approach is costly and error-prone and we are currently studying the technical feasibility of changing our systems to incorporate auto-exclusion for bill printing. We hope to introduce this feature in the near future.
We would like to thank Mr Syu for his suggestion.
