ON FEB 29, I went to ABN Thomson branch to close my old account and open a new joint savings account. Because it was a new account, I needed to get ATM cards and was told it would take three working days.
Two weeks passed and my new account was not even processed. I called ABN call centre and was informed that they would look into the matter. Another two weeks passed before my new account was ready. Only when I enquired about my ATM cards did they mail me an application form for the cards.
The application form states that there is a $10 charge for each ATM replacement card. I called ABN call centre to enquire about the charges since mine was a new account. It took several calls before ABN informed me that I need not pay the charges. When I received my statement for March, I was appalled to find a deduction of $20 for ATM card replacement. I called the call centre and was furious to find out that they claimed they had no records of telling me that I need not pay for the ATM cards.
The relationship manager in Thomson branch who handled my processing spent three hours trying to sell me investment products even though I made it known upfront that I was not interested. Does this have anything to do with the sloppy service I got?
