Why levy service charge at a self-service foodcourt?
ON A Sunday afternoon in Raffles City, my wife and I wanted to try the food at the Japanese foodcourt - Shokudo, located on the basement. We were both issued a card on entry so that the cost of the food could be stored in the card. The patrons had to then pay at the designated exit point.

As it was a self-service foodcourt, we had to queue to place our orders at the stalls. We took our food and found a table for our lunch. The waiter came to give us some serviettes. After we had finished, we proceeded to the exit point for payment. To our surprise, a 10 per cent service charge was in the bill. We were puzzled as to what service the foodcourt had provided besides giving us serviettes. Can the management clarify what services they had provided to patrons to warrant a 10 per cent service charge?
