Campaigns flop because of selfish Singaporeans
IT SEEMS that government campaigns against anti-social behaviours are not working. The solution is not to become passive and hope that one day our behaviours will change. I believe strongly that the answer lies in being specific and effective in our campaign messages.

Take, for example, our behaviour when using the MRT. Many people are still blocking the doorways in their attempt to get into the train before passengers could alight. There are also people who take their time to get into the train. They don't seem to care that those behind them may not be able to get in if they don't move fast enough. While on the escalators, it is common to see people hogging the right lane. Most people would make an attempt to move to the left when I say 'Excuse me' politely. However, there are others who blatantly ignore my attempts to rush on the fast lane.

We call ourselves a First World country, but then we have this 'thou-shall-not-care' attitude. Hong Kong and Taiwan have very disciplined users on their public transport. Why can't we?
