I REFER to the letter, 'Singapore Flyer ticket prices far too expensive for retirees, children' (Online forum, Feb 4).
It appears that Singaporeans have become complacent over the years and have seemed to adopt what I would call 'the instant noodle syndrome'.
We want it cheap and we want it good. With a recent interest in the status of the Singapore dollar, I have noticed that our currency has grown stronger and not the other way round. In retrospect, the standard of living has increased too. Despite this, most Singaporeans still expect to fork out as little as possible for the best.
From what I have gathered, the Singapore Flyer has much to offer, compared with the London Eye; in fact, it is 30 metres taller than the latter.
The one across the causeway is barely half that height. Thus, I cannot yet comprehend why we are unwilling to commit the dollar for the experience and service that I am sure the Singapore Flyer provides. It is definitely not just about the view but the overall atmosphere before and after.
In addition, it is ridiculous to cap the rate at $10; why that would be merely 50 cents short of the most expensive movie ticket here.
