Alam Shah's worldwide ban too harsh? Victim could have suffered irreparable damage
TRY as I might, I could not understand the remarks by Tampines Rovers team manager Syed Faruk that Alam Shah's worldwide ban is 'too harsh'.

Alam Shah first elbowed Daniel Bennett, and then kneed him. As Daniel fell to the ground, wriggling in pain, he tried to kick him.

Had he not been held back, Daniel could have suffered permanent injury, which would not only end his sports career prematurely, but could also mar his life forever. If that happens, is the team manager going to donate part of his salary to support him until his last day? Isn't this harsher than losing the chance to play soccer for just 12 months?

I would have thought that a team manager should set the example of being able to tell right from wrong and, in this case, guide errant members under his charge to realise what wrongs they have done.
