I WAS on board a northbound MRT train heading towards Khatib MRT station last Thursday evening at around 8pm. It was raining.
The train reached the station but failed to stop. The driver announced that there was a 'train fault'. It was obvious to passengers that the brakes were not functioning properly.
Passengers who wanted to alight at Khatib had no choice but to get off at Yishun and take the southbound train back to Khatib.
A terrible accident could have occurred if there had been a stationary train at Khatib. Are drivers given safety education, for example, safe braking distances in wet weather?
