SingTel explains hi!Card charges
WE REFER to the letter, 'Free Incoming Calls advertised on mobile prepaid cards not really free' by Mr Ian Kwok (Online forum, Oct 11).

We have since contacted Mr Kwok to explain the charges applicable for hi!Card, our prepaid service, that offers free incoming calls.

To activate the free incoming call feature, customers can dial *1300 with their hi!Card. An SMS message will then be sent to our customers informing them of the 60 cents daily fee. They need to reply to this SMS in order to activate the service. Customers can also cancel this service any time and revert to the normal prepaid service where both outgoing and incoming mobile calls are chargeable. To do so, they can dial *1301 and pay a small cancellation fee of $1.50.

The Terms and Conditions are highlighted on the hi!Card, its accompanying user guide as well as all marketing collaterals on SingTel's prepaid service. Our prepaid service with free incoming calls is very popular among the students and foreign workers. Those who receive more than four minutes of incoming calls daily on average will find this service value for money.

We thank Mr Kwok for his feedback.
