1) Speeding

With cab companies importing vehicles with more powerful engines to be used as taxis, it is no surprise cabbies are treating them as their 'Ferraris'.

Often, when you chat with the cab driver on his current vehicle model, inevitably he will tell you that he needs just a mere few seconds to reach 100kmh and will be most willing to demonstrate the capability of the vehicle.

My question to the cab companies is: Do we need such powerful vehicles as cabs? Have the cab companies forgotten what the primary purpose of a cab is?

2) Identity

Given the various models of taxis on the road, recognising a cab is quite a task, especially for the older folks. Why can't cab companies stick to one standard model?

3) Touting by cabbies

Taxi drivers resort to this when they have to cover high overheads of luxury models such as the Mercedes.

And when cabbies pass on the costs, it's the commuters who suffer.
