I REFER to the article, 'Tuas Power to help customers save power' (ST, Sept 15).
It is encouraging to see a local company have the initiative for an energy audit scheme for its customers.
Indeed it seems counter-intuitive to a company selling power. However, it is not just the 'green' aspects of this initiative that should be highlighted.
Becoming more energy-efficient will help Singapore in the long run be more competitive in the global market. If we can reduce our energy costs, Singapore's economy will stand a better chance in global economic fluctuations. This will mean that our industries will stay profitable through good and bad times.
In turn, this will be a good outcome for power-generation companies like Tuas Power as customers will not have to close their businesses. Kudos to them, it displays foresight.
