Taxis everywhere at Harbourfront taxi stand but all have 'On call' signs lit up
ON AUG 7 at 9.40pm, I arrived from Batam and proceeded to queue for a taxi at the Harbourfront taxi stand.

There was a long queue, and there were many taxis with 'On call' signs picking up passengers not from the queue, but from a group waiting outside the queue.

There was practically no regular taxis picking up passengers from the queue, so most of the passengers in the queue started to book taxis with their mobile phone. This way they practically jumped the queue, since they immediately got an 'On call' taxi.

The taxis actually did not proceed directly to the taxi stand, but waited somewhere nearby to respond to the call from their radio, and this way they get an extra $4 'pick-up charge' ($6 between 5pm and 8pm).

I do not know if this scene is happening in all 'strategic' taxi stands in Singapore, but this is definitely an unfair practice by taxi drivers.

I got my taxi after waiting for nearly two hours.
