A near-tragedy, all because of litter of 'pullout' advertisements
MY MOTHER was walking through the Somerset MRT underground during lunch hour on Tuesday when she suddenly slipped on a 'pull-out' advertisement and fell face down, with her head narrowly missing a glass divider by just a few inches.

She laid motionless in shock for a few minutes and was taken to hospital. Fortunately, she suffered only bruises on her knees. She could have injured her face if she had not used her palms to break her fall.

All this might not happen if 'pull-out' adverts in those newspapers given out free were attached securely in place. I have seen so many of them being littered on the ground, especially during the early-morning rush hour and noon time and nobody bothers to pick them up after they 'accidentally' dropped them.

They are an eyesore and pose a real threat of someone slipping on its glossy material. Imagine an old or pregnant woman slipping on those 'pull-out' adverts.

And to all the people who helped my mother, I would like to say a 'big Thank You".
