CUSTOMER service in Singapore is still not up to standard. Below is what I encountered at Cathay Cineplex box office.
My company organised a movie outing on last Saturday.
Therefore, my manager went personally to Cathay to buy the tickets last Thursday. When she returned to the office, she told me the service assistant at the box office did not tell her there was a 12 per cent discount for using a particular bank credit card to make payment, and we bought more than 60 movie tickets at one time.
At first, I thought it was a one-off case. Then on Saturday, after the movie, I walked to the box office with my friend to make an advance booking for another movie. This time, I got a taste of what my manager faced.
Instead of the service assistant at the box office serving us, we had to tell her everything and ask her questions. She didn't even ask if we wanted to pay by cash or credit card, and she didn't seem happy in her work.
When we decided to use credit card for payment, she processed it and then showed us a printout saying our credit card had a problem, so we had no choice but to pay cash.
But on Monday, when we checked the credit card we use for movie ticket payment, it showed there was no problem with it, which means either the Cathay staff don't know how to use the credit card machine or the machine is at fault.
I hope the management of Cathay Cineplex can give me an explanation.
