YANGON - DETAINED Myanmar democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi was taken on Monday from her lakeside home in a convoy, apparently for a second meeting with visiting UN envoy Ibrahim Gambari, witnesses said.

The Nobel peace prize winner, who has spent 12 of the last 18 years under house arrest, had met Professor Gambari at a government guesthouse on Saturday on the third day of the Nigerian troubleshooter's visit to military-ruled Myanmar.

Details of that meeting have not yet been revealed.
