He takes over from Senior Assistant Commissioner (SAC) Lock Wai Han, who is now the deputy secretary (Info-comm, Media & Arts) in the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts.

The new director took over at a Change of Command ceremony held on Monday afternoon at the Police Cantonment Complex.

AC Ng, 42, was previously the director of manpower at the police headquarters and has held key positions in several units including Commander of Tanglin Police Division and Head of Operations.

Outgoing director SAC Lock, 40, was the first commissioner of the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority before assuming the role as CID director in April 2005.
