SENIOR Minister Goh Chok Tong left for India on Sunday for a six-day official visit.
SM Goh will visit New Delhi and Chandigarh, the capital of the state of Punjab and the state of Haryana, as part of a regular exchange of high-level visits between Singapore and India, said a statement from the Prime Minister's Office on Sunday.
Mr Goh last visited India in January 2006.
During the visit which ends on March 28, SM Goh will meet Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Minister of External Affairs Mr Pranab Mukherjee, Minister of Commerce and Industry Mr Kamal Nath, Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Dr Montek Singh Ahluwalia and other Indian political leaders, including the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Mr L K Advani. �
He will also meet members of the Confederation of Indian Industry and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry and other business leaders.
In Chandigarh, he will meet the Chief Minister of Punjab Mr Parkash Singh Badal, the Chief Minister of Haryana Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda, and the Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh and Governor of Punjab General Sunith Francis Rodrigues.
Mr Goh will be accompanied by Senior Minister of State (Foreign Affairs and Information, Communications and the Arts) Dr Balaji Sadasivan, Member of Parliament Mr K Shanmugam, senior government officials and business members of IE Singapore's Network India Steering Committee.
