A fire broke out in the living room of a flat at Block 137, Yishun Ring Road early on Friday.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) received several calls from residents about the fire in a third-floor unit at about 4.20 am.

It sent two fire engines, two support appliances and three ambulances to the fire scene.

Firefighters brought the fire under control with a water jet, and rescued four occupants from the flat. The four, who suffered smoke inhalation, were sent to Singapore General Hospital.

The fire damaged the furniture and other items in the living room, while the bedroom and kitchen walls were darkened by the smoke.
