MR Shafii Kasmani was on his way to Serangoon Road with a friend to get some breakfast on Tuesday morning but they had to skip it.

The SBS bus which they were on slammed into the rear of a double-decker bus at a bus stop outside Le Meridien hotel in Orchard Road.

The double-decker bus was stationary when it was hit. Both bus drivers were not hurt.

Seventeen passengers suffered minor injuries and were taken to Singapore General Hospital (SGH).

Police received a call about the collision at about 8.45am.

Mr Shafii suffered abrasions on his leg and knee.

'I think they must have hit the seat in front when the accident happened,' said the 66-year-old hotel security officer.

Mr Shafii had just finished a midnight shift before boarding bus service No. 65 bound for Serangoon.

'My friend and I were talking when there was a sudden jerk and a hard knock. There was a loud bang!' he recounted after being treated at SGH. 'I was quite shocked when it happened.'

The father of two sons and a daughter walked with a slight limp as he left SGH.

His friend, who is in his 40s, bruised his elbow.
