BREADTALK has unveiled a sparkling new look to be adopted by its 170 bakery outlets globally, including in Malaysia, India, Thailand, the Philippines and China.

Changes include new store designs, new staff uniforms and environmentally friendly packaging.

BreadTalk would not disclose the total cost involved when it invited the media, local partners and more than 100 overseas franchisees to preview the homegrown company's new store concept at City Link on Tuesday.

It also unveiled 12 new signature breads with eye-catching names such as Garlic Sausage Cheese, Golden Pumpkin, Curry Dozo, Apple King and Coffee Ball.

Hard to miss in the stores are the elegant clear glass boxes resembling jewellery showcases that display the bread.

The new store concept comes with wall murals featuring 'Happy Chef' characters portrayed in different nationalities.

All outlet employees - from chefs to managers to service staff - now don white and light caramel uniforms that project a fresh, lively and international image.

And in line with going green, all the boxes and plastic bags used to pack the breads are now biodegradable.

BreadTalk's chairman, Mr George Quek, told The Straits Times that he hopes the new store concept, alongside the new look of the staff uniforms and packaging, will help make customers' BreadTalk experience more memorable.

'How do you blend bread with art? How can we raise our standard further?' he asked.

'The international debut of our new bakery boutique concept in Singapore has a tremendous significance to our brand as we venture further into the region.'

BreadTalk will celebrate its eight anniversary in July.
