'ORCHIDS in Harmony' - a display of richly-hued tropical orchids in various forms and sizes, won the top award for International Display at the prestigious 19th World Orchid Conference in Miami, Florida, on Tuesday.

Led by Mr Alan Tan Chye Soon, Assistant Director with NParks, in partnership with the Orchid Society of South-east Asia (OSSEA), the Singapore team garnered four top awards, including Gold Medal (International Display) and Best of Show (International Display).

The winning design is a modern Asian interpretation of the courtyard garden.

It not only celebrates the diversity of multi-cultural Singapore but also expresses Singapore's strong affinity with orchids.

Held once every three years, the World Orchid Conference is the most significant and the largest regular event in the international orchid calendar.

The win is of timely significance as the next conference will be hosted by Singapore in 2011.
