Top EADS executive called in for questioning
BERLIN - THE former chief financial officer of Airbus, and current head of the EADS plant in Dresden, Mr Andreas Sperl, has been summoned to Paris for questioning in part of the corruption probe against EADS, a company spokseman said on Tuesday.

According to a source close to the case, his interview is expected on Wednesday in the investigation into insider trading at EADS.

'I am convinced that I acted in full accordance with the laws in place and with internal regulations,' Mr Sperl said, cited by the spokesman in Dresden.

Mr Sperl said he was confident the French justice would come to the same conclusions at the end of its investigation.

Mr Sperl is one of 17 people - including four Germans - suspected by the French stock exchange investigators suspected of using insider knowledge in share transactions.

According to Wednesday's Dresden-based newspaper Sachische Zeitung, the French financial investigators accuse Sperl of having made huge gains on selling shares en masse in 2005 and 2006, based on his position of having internal knowledge of the financial prospects of Airbus.

The former boss of Airbus, German Gustav Humber, was charged by the French authorities with insider dealing on July 2.

Two French former EADS executives, Noel Forgeard and Jean-Paul Gut, have already been charged with the same offence.
