A MAN who caned his son 100 times in a day was charged in court on Wednesday.

The 38-year-old is accused of assaulting the 10-year-old child on Sept 15 last year. He allegedly caned the boy's buttocks, arms and back with two rattan canes. He was released on $10,000 bail.

His passport was impounded, and as a condition of bail, he is not to hit the child any more.

The man said he wished to engage a lawyer.
