JAKARTA - THREE people have been killed and more than a dozen injured in floods in Indonesia's densely-populated East Java province following heavy rains, a health ministry official said on Thursday.
'Three people were killed, four hospitalised and 10 others injured in the Pasuruan floods,' the official, Rustam Pakaya, told reporters.
More than 10,000 houses in 30 villages in Pasuruan district have been flooded as a result of heavy downpours since Wednesday, Pakaya was quoted as saying on news website Detikcom.
About 45 hours were completely destroyed, he said, with water levels reaching 2.5 metres at its high point.
At least two districts on Sulawesi island were also flooded but no casualties were reported, Pakaya told reporters.
