THAILAND'S Department of Foreign Trade (DFT) has given the assurance that, even though rice prices are still creeping up, they are doing so more slowly and are likely to become more stable. One reason for this is that Thailand has been able to keep its rice exports at about 20 million tonnes a year.

I READ with interest the letters discussing working mothers, stay-home mothers, single mothers, happy mothers, sad mothers, selfless mothers - and their other hubby halves.
MADAM Lee Sui Yi brought up some interesting points in 'Mistake to ignore stay-home mothers' on Wednesday. In the Government's attempts to boost baby numbers, I wonder why stay-home mums are so short-changed.

Mas Selamat: Here's how he escaped
Home Affairs Minister Wong Kan Seng unveiled further details to the daring escape of JI fugitive Mas Selamat Kastari in Parliament on Monday when he released the Executive Summary of the Committee of Inquiry's report. On Tuesday, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong gave his take on Government accountability over the issue. We bring you both speeches in full.

The COI's recommendations
The Government has accepted a slew of recommendations put forth by the Committee of Inquiry (COI). Among them - centralising the command and control of the Whitley Road detention centre under the Internal Security Department and building a new detention facility in Changi Prison for political detainees.
