A SINGAPOREAN earmarked to be a future leader of the Jemaah Islamiah (JI) has been detained under the Internal Security Act for his involvement with the regional terror group. The Home Affairs Ministry said Rijal Yadri Jumari had been schooled in JI madrasahs overseas, been sent for terrorist training in Afghanistan and even met Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden.

THE Ministry of Health (MOH) will draft rules to govern higher-risk beauty treatments, such as liposuction, said Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan yesterday. The guidelines will outline which doctors can perform the procedures, the training they need, and where they can be done, he said.

Mas Selamat: Here's how he escaped

The COI's recommendations
The Government has accepted a slew of recommendations put forth by the Committee of Inquiry (COI). Among them - centralising the command and control of the Whitley Road detention centre under the Internal Security Department and building a new detention facility in Changi Prison for political detainees.
