INCUMBENT Radin Mas MP Sam Tan says he is ready to contest in his single-seat ward and is confident his track record there over the past five years will hold up to voters' scrutiny.

The Senior Parliamentary Secretary (Information, Communications and the Arts, and Trade and Industry) said on Wednesday that it was up to residents to decide which candidate would best serve them.

Radin Mas is shaping up as a hot spot in the coming polls, with three opposition parties eyeing it: the National Solidarity Party, the Singapore Democratic Alliance and the Reform Party.

Commenting on the possibility of a four-cornered fight, Mr Tan said: 'The best thing is for each of us to do our best and let the residents assess.'

His priority remained that of continuing to serve residents by implementing more upgrading and community bonding programmes and looking after the needy.
