Too many security lapses?

Jemaah Islamiah leader Mas Selamat Kastari escaped from a toilet at Whitley Road Detention Centre, by closing the urinal door and climbing out of a window with no grilles. He then made it out of the compound by climbing onto a covered walkway connected to the double perimeter fence. His escape sparked a massive manhunt.

Two criminal suspects tried to escape from the Subordinate Courts lock-up.

They made it out of their cell after attacking a police officer who had opened the door to give them water.

They then pressed the buzzer at the gate at the exit of the lock-up where another officer opened it without first checking who was buzzing.

The two were caught shortly after.

Retiree Ang Heng Soon used his son's passport to check in at the Tiger Airways counter at Changi's Budget Terminal and got past the security check at the entrance to the restricted passenger area.

He ran into problems while trying to scan his fingerprint at the immigration Automated Clearance System and was directed to a lane for manual clearance.

He passed that, and boarded the plane to Vietnam.
