KUALA LUMPUR - RICH Singaporean investors could force Malays out of the Iskandar Malaysia economic zone, says former premier Mahathir Mohamad.
Tun Dr Mahathir said on Saturday that the RM17.7billion (S$7.5billion) Iskandar Malaysia project was aimed at luring Singaporean investors and could see Malays forced out.
'After the land is sold, the Malays will be driven to live at the edge of the forest and even in the forest itself,' he said.
'In the end, the area in Iskandar Malaysia will be filled with Singaporeans and populated with only 15per cent Malays.'
Tun Dr Mahathir also criticised the government for allowing Halliburton to open a RM200million manufacturing plant in Johor, accusing the US oil giant of taking 'blood money' from its contracts in Iraq.
