THE 10 finalists for the McDonald's Champion Kid programme have emerged.

The number will be further reduced to three cub reporters with the best presentation and who best capture the spirit of the Olympics with an 'Olympic moment' picture that is compelling enough to win your vote and a trip to Beijing 2008.

The three winners will share with Singapore their first-hand experiences of the Games come August.

Yesterday, The Straits Times featured two finalists. Two more will be featured each day for you to decide. They can also be viewed at www.mcdonalds.com.sg.

The three kids with the most number of votes will win for themselves and a parent an all-expenses paid trip, worth about $20,000, to the Games.

By voting, you stand to win one of three $200 McDonald's gift certificates. To vote, SMS to 77877 in the format 'MCK Contestant Code Your name' by May 15. Each SMS costs 20 cents.

Winners of the McDonald's Champion Kid will be announced on May 24. The draw date for the gift certificates will be on May 26. Winners will be notified by post.

F3 Codee Ong Wen Ci (10)

'I am Codee Ong Wen Ci. I should be chosen as I am an artistic gymnast myself.

'It has always been my dream to see the artistic gymnast, Shawn Johnson, in person. She is my idol. Interviewing her will really make my dream come true - it would mean having a more intimate experience with my idol.

'Hence, if I were to have the chance, I would interview her with much confidence, without letting Singapore nor myself down. I should be chosen as a McDonald's Champion kid.'

F4 Grace Ng Jia Yen (11)

'The responsible and adventurous me would not have a problem communicating with the people in China as my Chinese is relatively good.

'I was one of the few specially picked students to attend the Singapore-Thailand exchange programme last year. Therefore, being sensitive, respecting others and admiring them is not a problem.

'I also want to cheer for the twenty-two participants representing Singapore in sailing, badminton, shooting and table tennis at the Beijing Olympics.

'I love sports, especially swimming, running, and skating, a thrilling sport not for the weak-hearted. Sports has taught me to persevere and give my best.'
