Around 1,500 students kitted out in waterproof ponchos gathering in Ladeuzeplein Square in Leuven, Belgium, to discover exactly what happens when you drop a mint sweet into a bottle of Coca-Cola, in an attempt to break a world record.
The students tried to out-fizz the previous record for so-called 'Mentos fountains' last Wednesday by simultaneously dropping Mentos mints into bottles of the soft drink, London's Telegraph reported.
The resultant chemical reaction sent hundreds of streams of the carbonated drink shooting into the air.
The previous world record was set in the United States, when 973 Cola geysers were launched simultaneously, reported the Daily Mail.
