The institute, the last of the technical schools created mainly in the 1970s and 1980s to equip those who have repeatedly failed their Primary School Leaving Examination with basic skills, will feature a revamped curriculum from next year.

Education Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam announced the changes yesterday during a tour of the school. It will be renamed Assumption Pathway School and offer a three- to four-year course focusing on the academic and vocational.

Its campus in Upper Bukit Timah will be refurbished and have upgraded workshops, dance studios and a hostel.
