Mr Tan Ah Chong, the man who was stabbed to death at a Jalan Kukoh hawker centre last Thursday, was cremated yesterday morning. The murder suspect, Lim Bock Song, was later shot by a police officer at Outram Park MRT station after he rushed at the officer with a 20cm-long knife.

Led by a Taoist priest, relatives of Mr Tan, an odd-job worker, took part in a rite performed around 7am at the scene of his stabbing.

Family members of the 52-year-old then headed for the mortuary to claim his body before cremation at the Bright Hill Temple.
