DEFENCE Minister and Singapore National Olympic Council president Teo Chee Hean smiles approvingly at an Olympic-themed graffiti yesterday morning. The Minister was the guest-of-honour as CapitaLand pledged its support for Singapore's bid to host the inaugural Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in 2010.

To show its support, the real-estate company launched a graffiti art competition to boost awareness and encourage greater public participation.

Five selected works that depict the YOG spirit will go on a three-week roving exhibition at various CapitaLand properties.

More than a million people who visit these properties are expected to view these artworks.

Also, CapitaLand rolled out a YOG-themed television advertising campaign with the tagline 'Supporting Singapore's Bid for 2010 Youth Olympic Games'.

The commercial, worth a total airtime of over $1 million, will be shown on global news channels CNN and BBC.

It will also be shown locally on Channel 5, Channel 8 and Channel NewsAsia.

Television screens at selected CapitaLand retail and commercial properties will also screen the advertisement.
