I REFER to the report, 'Ren Ci chief in new controversy over PhD' (ST, Nov 19).
I, for one, fail to understand the brouhaha over Venerable Ming Yi's PhD in philosophy from Mannin University.
Whether this doctorate is recognised or otherwise is immaterial as what matters most is he had completed the course.
Many Singaporeans study at overseas universities which are not accredited. Recognition of their qualifications is at the discretion of their employers.
Moreover, is the doctorate a prerequisite for his position at Ren Ci Hospital? If not, why all the fuss over its credibility?
Instead, the probe into the irregularities in the hospital's books should take priority.
