Malaysia's one-sen coin is proving so cumbersome to carry that this supermarket has a tray of free money for shoppers short of the coins to pay bills.
The one-sen coin, which is worth less than half a Singapore cent, costs more than four sen to mint. The government plans to do away with the need for them by getting vendors to round off their bills to the nearest five sen from April next year.
Till then, customers will have to rely on the generosity of supermarkets to have trays of coins for the taking.
