Copperfield shows here canned
By Douglas Tseng
IT'S official - David Copperfield will not be coming to Singapore next month.

In a statement yesterday, tour promoter Unusual Entertainments said: 'The shows have been cancelled by David Copperfield's management.'

The American illusionist was scheduled to perform at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Nov 2 and 3.

The artiste has also called off his other dates in Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok and Jakarta.

The cancellations came after FBI agents raided a warehouse owned by Copperfield in Las Vegas last week, following allegations that he raped an American woman in the Bahamas.

Disappointed fans aside, the regional promoters are also hit by his pull-out.

In Jakarta, a tour organiser reportedly lost more than US$1 million (S$1.46 million) 'for advertising and other preparations'.

An Unusual spokesman told Life! that they had spent 'close to $1 million' on advertising and publicity here.

Ticket refunds will start from next Monday to Nov 11. All tickets not redeemed by Nov 11 will be considered void.

For purchases made by credit card, refunds will be credited to the same card without the need to return the tickets.

For those made through cash or Nets, tickets would have to be presented with the ticketholder's NRIC or passport to the Sistic box office at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Refund hours are from Mondays to Saturdays from noon to 8pm, and on Sundays and public holidays from 1 to 7pm.

For more information, call Sistic on 6348-5555.
