HONG KONG - Actress Maggie Cheung and architect Ole Scheeren have confirmed they are a couple after appearing hand in hand at the Swarovski Fashion Rocks charity bash last Thursday in London.
Dressed in grey, the movie queen was snapped smiling radiantly and leaning slightly on Scheeren.
Their relationship had been exposed that very day by tabloid Sudden Weekly which published pictures of them taken at the Hong Kong airport on Oct 7.
Apple Daily last Saturday said the couple met in June at the birthday party of Cheung's manager, Melvin Chua, in Beijing.
Chua and Kevin Lee, the founder of East/West fashion magazine, introduced her to the German architect and they hit it off immediately.
On July 6, they flew to Rome to attend designer Valentino's 45th anniversary exhibition, but Scheeren kept a low profile and escaped notice.
On July 19, Cheung, 43, was in Taipei when she announced that she had broken up with her boyfriend and businessman Guillaume Brochard 'a few weeks ago'. They were together for four years.
Beijing-based Scheeren, 36, a partner in Dutch firm Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA), is leading the design of the new headquarters building of China Central Television in Beijing.
He was also behind the Prada Epicenter store projects in New York and Los Angeles. He is said to be a film buff.
