Myanmar students from the Singapore Management University (SMU) gathering around a candle-lit message after holding an hour-long vigil yesterday for their friends and families in their home country.
University students in Singapore put more than 1,000 signatures on a petition calling on Myanmar's military leaders to hold talks with the country's pro-democracy leaders.
The students also wore red armbands and ribbons to mark Myanmar Peace Awareness Day yesterday.
A vigil was also held at the National University of Singapore's Bukit Timah campus last night.
In emotional speeches, several students from Myanmar studying here asked for international help to end the humanitarian crisis back home.
Despite being far from the violence, the students were not untouched by the climate of fear in Myanmar.
Apprehensive of reprisals on their families back home, the students asked not to be identified.
