Mohd Shariff Abu Samah, 65, fulfilled a long-term ambition by graduating from Universiti Utara Malaysia with a master's degree in science in counselling.
The retired state administrator overcame various obstacles, including cancer of the larynx, to complete his two-year course. He now hopes to provide marital counselling to couples in Kedah state, and also plans to pursue a doctorate in the same field.
Pictured in his graduation gown among some of his 14 grandchildren, Mohd Shariff is proof of the adage that it is never too late to pursue your dreams.
