Toys 'R' Us stops sale of tainted baby bibs
NEW YORK - TOYS 'R' Us has halted the sale of vinyl baby bibs at its stores in North America after tests confirmed that at least some of the Chinese-made ones were contaminated with lead.

The company also offered refunds to its customers on Friday. 'Quality control slipped at the point of manufacturing,' said Ms Kathleen Waugh, a Toys 'R' Us spokesman.

The move by the company followed a report last week that independent laboratory tests by the New York Times and a California environmental group had found lead contamination in the bibs. They were marketed under the Koala Baby, Especially for Baby and Disney labels and made by Hamco Baby Products.
