MUMBAI - MANCHESTER United winger Cristiano Ronaldo was caught on camera kissing Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu.

The act has captured the attention of the Indian media, who are speculating about a romantic link between the pair.

They met on the weekend in Lisbon, where they had gone for a show to reveal the new seven wonders of the world following an online poll.

Indian newspapers on Wednesday picked up a British tabloid picture showing Ronaldo, 22, kissing the 28-year-old Bipasha.

They reported that after the show, the two got 'physical' while partying at a Lisbon nightclub.

The news came just as Ronaldo's girlfriend, Gemma Atkinson, denied cheating on him with his United teammate Alan Smith.

British television actress Atkinson admitted that Smith had visited her house for trysts.

But she insisted that their relationship ended before she got together with Ronaldo over Christmas.

The latest picture of the Portuguese player has created a stir in gossipy Bollywood.

But Bipasha insisted that the kiss had been taken out of context.

'Yes, it is me in the picture,' said the sultry star, known for her raunchy dance numbers.

'It was taken at an opportune moment. It looks like a case of irresponsible assumptions.'

The Times of India quoted her as saying that she was 'totally floored' by Ronaldo.

'Meeting him was a dream come true,' she said.

'After the event, we went out clubbing, and that was simply fantastic.

'He is so cute. He is a friend now.

'He has promised that I will be invited for all his matches.'

Ronaldo told her that he was a fan of Bollywood films.

'I was surprised when he told me that his mum watches old Hindi film movies,' she said.

The Indian media have reported that her relationship with hunky Bollywood actor John Abraham was in trouble, and that they were on the verge of a split.
