1967: Uniforms made from 'Temasek Green cotton drill' were supplied to replace the old drill' (below) uniforms used by the British. They had only two patched pockets for the shirt and three pockets for the trousers. The uniform had to be worn tucked in.
1979: The uniform retained the name 'Temasek Green' but the colour became darker, with four pockets instead of two.
1983: The first camouflage combat dress was introduced, with interlocking splodges of green, brown and black. This was worn tucked out. Two years later, a material that was lighter and allowed for better airflow was used for the uniforms (below) instead.
2008: The new pixellated camouflage uniform is expected to resemble that worn by the United States Marine Corps. According to the corp's website, this pattern appears in 'small digital blocks' when viewed up close. However, it blends into the environment as the distance increases.
