Within five years, ultra-fast Web connections and dashboard screens could help drivers to keep tabs on traffic jams and find hole-in-the-wall restaurants, among other things, experts said yesterday.
US-based Motorola is proposing that Singapore use new broadband technologies - such as WiMax, a longer-range version of Wi-Fi - to connect cars to the Web.
'The technology is already here, it's a matter of putting it into real-world use,' said Mr Benhur Mesfin, director for wireless broadband for Motorola Electronics, who was speaking at the Intelligent Transport Systems Forum held this week at Suntec City.
