'I don't think of myself as a foreigner and I've tried to blend into Singapore society,' said the 23-year-old management trainee at sports firm Fila. He has been here for three months.
'Long hours' and the 'fast pace of life' are some of the challenges he has had to face.
Working at the Fila store in VivoCity, Mr Li said that every day presents a fresh opportunity to brush up his service and English-speaking skills.
He has picked up simple Malay phrases such as 'selamat pagi' (good morning) and 'selamat petang' (good evening).
'I believe that you should treat your company and shop as your home. It's important to appear passionate and to conduct yourself with the proper etiquette,' he replied when asked about his views on good service.
'There was one customer who was a bit unreasonable when it came to our store policy of not allowing people to try on white clothing.
He was already angry when another staff member tried to explain this to him. When I stepped in, I politely suggested that he consider a piece that was of the same design but a different colour, instead of repeating our policy.
In the end, he appreciated the effort to accommodate him and smiled as he made his purchases.'
