CLINICS are required to provide a breakdown of fees and drug costs in their bills.
In an advisory sent to doctors in February, the Singapore Medical Association (SMA) said three categories of costs should be itemised.
These are:
Professional fees
The cost of consultation, including examination and diagnosis
Practice costs
A category that covers items like staff salaries, utilities, IT costs and other business-related expenses
Medications and other related fees
The price of drugs dispensed by the clinic and fees for blood tests and scans like X-rays.
The SMA has given its members two options to itemise their bills:
Option 1
Option 2
