On April 24, eight- year-old Russell Koh joined these sad statistics.
The Pei Chun Public School pupil was on his way to school when two cars crashed into the schoolbus he was in at the junction of Yio Chu Kang Road and Gerald Drive.
He was not buckled up as his bus had no seat belts, and was flung out of the rear door which jerked open. He died in hospital an hour later.
A six-year-old girl in the bus suffered bruises to her face and a deep cut on a leg.
To emphasise the importance of road safety, The Sunday Times is launching a drive over the next few Sundays to highlight bad road habits.
Our tagline is Save A Life, and we kick off this week with how wearing a seat belt might do just that.
Think about it: It could be your life or that of a loved one.
