Here's what The Sunday Times observed at six islandwide locations over a six-hour period on May Day:
Of the 1,311 cars spotted, 144 (11 per cent) had drivers who were not wearing seat belts.
Front-seat passengers were in 653 of the 1,311 cars, and 142 of them (22 per cent) were not belted up.
430 cars had back-seat passengers. Almost 70 per cent of them, or 299, did not buckle up.
